Acadia, Calgary History

Established in the 60s to late 70s, beautiful tree lines and large backyards populate Acadia. Making the area perfect for small and large families. The majority of homes are Keith-built homes that have a modern traditional aesthetic, and this means wide windows, unique roofing, and a retro- 60's look.

Annexed to the city of Calgary in 1956 and established in 1960. Acadia underwent an urbanization program that led to its growth into an inner-city neighborhood. However, there still exists a healthy mix of original 60s buildings and new ones. Some older homes have undergone renovation. Furthermore, the older homes are relatively cheaper, but with renovation, you can improve the resale value. Also, buying a home in Acadia, as mentioned, is an inner-city investment. What that means is. Expect the price of your investment to go up.

If you work outside Acadia, two main roadways (north -heritage drive/southland drive) on all sides of the neighborhood will make your commutes easier.

Today, there are all kinds of homes in Acadia. There are apartment buildings, duplexes, and 1960s style bungalows that make up at least 60% of the homes in the area.

Real estate Expert tip: most buildings in Acadia were built between 1960 to 1970. Consequently, older unrenovated buildings are cheaper. If you are on a budget, you may buy an unrenovated home, then slowly renovate it.

Most of the older buildings are on the west side of Acadia.

Joining this community may help you meet new friends and business contacts. You will know what is happening in the neighborhood, share, and get advice, and it may help you find professional development opportunities.

Acadia Community Amenities
